Nail-biter!

On a windy but clear evening at Stothert & Pitt, the closest and most exciting match of the season so far ended in a very enjoyable and much celebrated victory for the Griffins with just one over to spare.

Everyone bowled a couple of overs each and put in some good work in the field as Winsley posted a good score of 116 for 7 off 20 overs. Joseph took an impressive catch at a crucial time and Alfie clean bowled their reputedly strongest batsmen for a duck. Several run outs and a catching opportunities were missed but all in all it was a good effort in the field.

After Joseph was unfortunately dismissed by a peach of a delivery first ball, Joel and Charlie steaded the ship and got runs on the board. Alfie came in and struck his first ball solidly towards the boundary then carried on in similar vein combining good shot selection with attacking flair. At the other end Noah played superbly scarcely offering a chance as he and Alfie built a strong partnership and closed in on the target. Appearing to react to a signal from the scorer (coach Dave), Noah then started hitting boundaries himself. Following Alfie's 'unfortunate' dismissal LBW for 33, Noah (finishing on 30 odd not out) was joined by Fergus and together they steered the Griffins safely to victory hitting their opening bowler for 9 in the penultimate over of the match to win the game.

Thanks to Reuben for umpiring and to all parents for some great support.
