After winning the toss and electing to bat Sam Costello struck early to reduce the home side to 22-2. Costello, Eddie Johnson and new boy Alistair Steele all bowled well – Steel collecting the priced wicket of opener Josh Self (57). Hampset were limited to 221 off their 40 overs – still a competitive score.
In response – and despite losing Ollie Kahut early – It was Sam Bowery who took the ascendancy with a destructive 72 off just 33 balls.
Following his departure (105-3) it was at first Will Hurle and Eddie Johnson who steadied the ship and then Eddie’s father, Giles who saw Lansdown home.
