Posting a score of 279 for 6 from 30 overs after a rain-delayed and thereby reduced over match at Combe Park, Westbury justifiably felt it was a formidable target for Lansdown. Four of their first five batsmen recorded fifties with DANIEL GILL (61) CLARKE EVANS (52) LYDON GIBBONS (51) and JARED MACDONALD top scoring on 64.
In reply Lansdown soon found themselves on 92 for 4 and visiting South African LARRY DORMAN decided to take advantage of a by now lack lustre bowling attack from Westbury to start opening up. Within what seemed like no time he had scored a century, unselfishly and skilfully anchored to the middle by TOM NAYLOR.
His second century positively flowed with a variety of intelligent shots that showed class and on reaching 200(not out) Naylor (35 not out) found himself on strike to score the four required to win the match by six wickets with eight overs to spare.
This was a thoroughly entertaining game provided by both teams and again offered a feast of runs for the spectators, something becoming more and more frequent at Combe Park.
