Although the Methodists picked up two of their top three cheaply, the home team kept the scoreboard ticking over at a healthy rate - Jack Betenson and Dean Book regularly peppering the boundary as they rattled up a fifty stand in just five overs.
In total, the pair added a massive 168 for the third wicket in just 22 overs, with Book managing 77 before being caught at the wicket and Betenson eventually carrying his bat for a classy 136 not out. The final total after forty overs was a mammoth 281 for 4, giving the visitors a mountain to climb. Best of the Methodists' bowlers was David Baker with an relatively economical 3 for 35. After the interval the Methodists struggled to get hold of Lansdown's tidy opening spin pair, with Mike Jones (2-6) and Louis Mancini (0-24) conceding just 30 runs from the first sixteen overs bowled.
None of the visitors managed to reach twenty apart from Craig Eyles who top-scored with a brisk 28. All the Lansdown bowlers were consistently accurate, and in the end the Methodists only just managed to reach three figures, finally finishing up on 114 for 8, giving the home side a comfortable victory by 167 runs.
