Lansdown got off to a flyer

After Lansdown chose to bat first, they made good early progress. The first wicket did fall early though after an LBW appeal off Aaron Woodruff's bowling saw Joe Addey (8) wander out of his crease- and Mark Watts at gully duly hit the stumps for a sharp run out. Jack Betenson (66) and Matt Thomas (42) were then finding the boundary regularly, making use of the fast outfield that Lansdown occupies. Frome battled hard though, and despite Bob Lowe missing a chance to break the partnership at long-off from Simon Edwards bowling, wickets tumbled towards the latter stage of the innings. Josh Cantrell took a good catch off Watts (1-57) at mid-off before a couple of catches for Watts, Woodruff and Edwards in the deep thwarted the hosts progress somewhat, and it was the experienced Mark Harman in the wickets, as he rolled back the years to claim 4-33. Ashley Book (50) was one of his key scalps. Mat Bracher (2-31) returned to claim a brace of wickets, and along with Lowe (2-44)- they cut the Lansdown's innings short to bowl them out for 254 with the first ball of the last over to claim maximum bowling points.

In reply, Frome stuttered as Cantrell (12), Mark Harman (0) and James Unwin (2) fell. Bracher added some support for opener Watts, before Bracher was caught when he spliced the ball skyward for a useful 21. Lowe (10), Edwards (2) and Nick Lemon (4) departed as the run rate continued to increase before Watts was stumped for a superb 63. Woodruff (4) and Clive Copp (8) were the final two wickets to fall, however a good partnership between the latter and Arthur Harman (16 not out) saw Frome reach 170, thus collecting 3 batting points- with Lansdown's victory margin reading 84 runs. Jon Book, Thomas and Stuart Dunning claimed two wickets apiece for Lansdown whilst George Wood took 3-33.
