George Scott and James Palmer got the boys off to a classy start with some elegant stroke play - in hindsight making the pitch look a lot easier than it may have been! Bridgwater’s change bowlers (Coles & Toohey) pegged the lads back and took regular wickets but the superb Connor Brown was an ever-present handing out batting exhibition and ending 69 N.O. A special batting mention also has to go to Ashley Allen who hit a vital 23 of fewer balls leaving the Bridgy boys 179 to win.
The boys knew a big second half was needed. From here on in the boys were ruthless with the ball and in the field giving Bridgwater nothing. Josh Smith, got the boys up and running with a fiery opening spell, and even after his batting master class Connor Brown popped up with an excellent run out which had Gary Palmer jumping out of his seat for joy removing the dangerous Hallaran! Regular wickets fell from one end as Lansdown worked around the ever-present Callum Haggett with seamers Josh Smith, Brad Evans & George Scott all in the wickets. Spinners Ashley Allen & Sam Wheller building pressure from the other end. Getting the job done with 33 runs still to spare!
This was an excellent performance and something the boys are looking to build from as we now move forward into a busy cricketing week with fixtures against the MCC, Somerset Cup Semi-Final (away) & next Saturdays WEPL 1 league fixture against Bedminster CC at Combe Park!
