On a glorious Saturday afternoon

It was an important coin toss on what was definitely a bat first day. Lansdown got off to a decent start with James Palmer scoring fluently. However, the innings then reached a crucial stage, with Lansdown losing a couple of key wickets, when Jordan Smith and James Fuller combined scoring 67 and 61 respectively, a mature display of batting from both men. Unfortunately, we lost a flurry of wickets towards the end of the innings, meaning we were bowled out for 210 in the last over- a score that could have been considerably higher.

With Chippenham sending their pros in at the top of the order, we knew the importance of early wickets and Josh Smith and James Fuller delivered a hostile spell of new ball bowling, reducing the opposition to 19-3 off the first 10 overs. Lansdown now always looked in control and we put in a ruthless display for the remainder of the game with wickets falling regularly, until Chippenham were bowled out for 130. We now look forward to a local derby vs Bath next weekend, which is a hugely exciting fixture for the boys and we hope we can keep this momentum moving forwards.
