Lansdown sail to eight-wicket triumph

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Frome moved confidently to 30 without loss before losing three quick wickets to set them back.

Paul Sanger and Dan Dredge steadied things and looked to take Frome to drinks with no further loss, but again both fell in quick succession to leave the top order gone before the halfway point.

Ryan Gullock was then trapped lbw to leave the home side 82-6 and still well short of a competitive total.

There followed a strong partnership between Andrew Stonell and 16-year-old Joe Smart, who looked untroubled by the bowling and confidently knocked the ball around.

Having moved the score onto 121-6, Smart was bowled for a well-made 28 and Stonell caught for 13.

Lansdown attack lead by Captain Hankins who with figures of 6 for 19.

In reply Frome's opening pair of Eddy Neal and Sam Wheeler put the Landsown top order under pressure with some tight bowling, reducing them to 17-2 in the eighth over through two Neal wickets.

The Lansdown pair of Thomas Hankins and Ngoni Mupamba counter-attacked, with Hankins in particular looking to chance his arm to dominate the bowling.

Frome continued to bowl and field with purpose, but couldn't force a breakthrough as chances wouldn't go to hand and close calls didn't go their way.

The spin of Mark Sanger and David Dredge bowled well but to no avail, with Lansdown eventually passing the Frome total with no further loss.
