Discover the Schedule of Celebratory events for 2025

2025 is an historic year for Lansdown Cricket Club and as such we have a range of celebratory events in store for everyone to enjoy. We have tried to pull together events that recognise every part of our Cricket Club and bring togerther members, players and friends past and present.

All this alongside another jam packed season of Senior Men's, Women's, Walkers and Junior cricket to boot.

Here's the schedule ...

Saturday 17th MAY - LCC CAPTAINS DAY

As our First XI take on Keynsham CC, we are inviting all past captains of Lansdown Cricket Club Senior Men's and Women's Teams throughout the decades to join and recognise their service to our great club. It will be a great opportunity to meet again with many old and familiar faces.

Thursday 22nd May - Lansdown Cricket Club Bicentenary Reception

An opportunity to welcome local and Cricketing dignitaries and media to Combe Park for a formal reception. Invitations and further detail to follow.

Sunday 25th May - Family Fun and Music Day at Combe Park

There's no work or School the next day so we are welcoming our neighbours and families to enjoy a fun afternoon and evening at Combe Park, with live music all day on the outfield and plenty to keep the kids occupied too.

Friday 30th May - The Big Bike Ride Returns!

Join us at Combe Park as the 18 riders in The Big Bike Ride Team roll back home after 850km of riding. We'll have a live band and party to celebrate!

Saturday 31st May - Past Players Reunion, Pre-1985 Era

As the First XI take on Clevedon, we welcome the first of our Former Players reunions. This year we are focussing on eras of players. This first reunion will be for players from the pre 1985 era. Details and invitations to be sent to relevant former players.

Sunday 8th June - England vs Scotland, an over 50s One Day international

We are thrilled to be hosting a genuine international and the innaugural fixture between England Over 50s and Scotland Over 50s at Combe Park. Everyone is welcome to watch some top class international cricket.

Saturday 14th June - Past Players Reunion, 1985-2000 era

The second of our former player reunions as our First XI take on Bishopston. An opprtunity for players from a hugely successful period for Lansdown Cricket CLub to join and remember great times at the club. Details and invitations to be sent to relevant former players.

Tuesday 24th June - Wednesday 2nd July, Lansdown Cricket Club Bicentenary Festival of Cricket – Sponsored by Goughs Solicitors

During these nine days we will have special daily cricket matches at Combe Park, each designed to celebrate the breadth of cricket at our club and recognise some historic relationships too.

Tuesday 24th June – Walking Cricket Festival

To recognise and celebrate this growing section of our club, we will be hosting a full day of Walking Cricket at Combe Park.

Wednesday 25th June – Lansdown Cricket Club vs Somerset County Cricket Club

Many will know of the deep historical relationship between Somerset CCC and our Club. In 1875 Combe Park played host to the first ever Somerset fixture and our county club owes a great debt to LCC. On this occasion we hope to welcome a host of Somerset players past and present.

Thursday 26th June – Bath Schools Cricket Festival

In an innovative new venture, we will bring schools from across Bath together for an all day tournament. Pairing Private Schools with State Scholls, the day promises a great celebration of Schools Cricket in our City

[b]Friday 30th June – The Ruth Strauss Foundation Day

As part of our 200 for 200 campaign, The Ruth Strauss Foundation is one of our charity beneficiaries. On this day we are working hard to assemble a cricketing and celebrity fixture to help raise funds for our campaign. Stay tuned for details

Saturday 28th June – LCC 2nd XI vs Lodway CC

Sunday 29th June – Women’s Cricket Festival and Women of Combe Park Luncheon

A day to recognise another growing section of our club and local Women’s Cricket. We also play host to the women our club who have played a part as team support, officers players through the decades. Full details and invitations to follow.

Lansdown CC vs Bath CC is our most treasured rivalry as we have over a century of regular fixtures against our local neighbours. In Recent times, The John Downey Trophy has been contested across junior and senior cricket at our clubs, in memory of the legendary John Downey who was the first man to have captained both clubs. On this day we will have a Walking Cricket fixture over lunchtime, A junior fixture I the afternoon and a Senior men’s T20 from 6pm

Saturday 12th July – Past Players reunion – 2000 to present

As our First XI take on Bishopston, we host our final players reunion for those who played after the year 2000. Invitations to relevant players to follow

Wednesday 30th July – Lansdown Cricket Club vs Marylebone Cricket Club

Typically the marquee day for our club, it is always a fabulous occasion as we welcome the most famous cricket club in the world to Combe Park. This year we hope to attract a stellar line up to take on.

[b]Saturday 20th September – The Lansdown Cricket Club Bicentenary Ball.

SAVE THE DATE as final details are confirmed and ticket sales announced. This promises to be a fitting and extravagant Gala celebration for our anniversary year. This event is for our members and an opportunity to get dressed up, and have a fantastic party together as the cricket season has drawn to a close. Stay tuned …
