What a day! On Wednesday, 30th July 2025, Lansdown Cricket Club hosted one of its most memorable events in recent history—our annual MCC Day, made even more special as part of our Bicentenary celebrations.

With glorious weather and a packed crowd at Combe Park, the atmosphere was electric from start to finish. The MCC brought a strong side, and the cricket on display was top-class, keeping spectators entertained throughout the afternoon.

The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the presence of legendary cricket commentator Henry Blofeld, affectionately known as "Blowers". His stories from over fifty years on Test Match Special had the marquee in stitches and awe, as he shared tales from the golden age of cricket with his trademark wit and charm.

Adding to the excitement, local artist Alex Fielding generously donated one of his stunning cricket-themed artworks for auction, which drew enthusiastic bidding from guests. The auction also featured a range of fantastic prizes, including a hospitality box at The Oval.
We’re delighted to share that the event raised £1,500 towards our “200 for 200” fundraising campaign.

The marquee luncheon was a true celebration and the Combe Park boundary was filled with laughter, conversation, and a shared appreciation for the club’s rich 200-year history. Thank You!

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, supported, and helped organise the event. MCC Day 2025 was a fitting tribute to Lansdown Cricket Club’s Bicentenary, and we’re incredibly grateful to all who made it so special.
